Small Changes and News for 2024

Please see below some general news and updates, together with some changes for 2024;


We have thought carefully and decided auctions will continue for the foreseeable future as live online only sales, although official restrictions were lifted some time ago, there are still cases of Covid around, people are cautious of gatherings and after nearly 3 years of online, it’s become the ‘norm’.  We are following the industry pattern of most UK auctions. Bidding online really does give buyers the freedom and advantages of bidding from ‘anywhere’.

That said, you are still encouraged and very welcome to visit the saleroom on the formal Viewing Days and Auction Days, a great opportunity to see & check all Lots in person before bidding – and see us, talk to a human, and ask any questions.


Nobody likes fees or charges increasing, which we have delayed as long as possible, but with effect from 1st January 2024, our standard commission fees / auction premiums will increase by 2%.

That said, we’re pleased to announce a huge reduction and saving on higher value items in the auction: Buyer’s will only pay 10% on items over €1,000, rather than 16% going forward – that’s a huge discount! Seller’s will also have a substantially lower rate…

Usually hidden in the small print, but there is also the introduction of a minimum buyer’s fee on each Lot, (if the 16% auction premium falls below this amount) the auction premium will be €1.68 + vat, (€2.00). This only really affects the price you pay for Lots with hammer price under €10, otherwise it’s the default percentage rate.

Sadly, we will have to be tougher with the few buyers who are too slow or late in paying for their won auction Lots… Un-necessary delays are very unfair on the sellers of the Lots and the other bidders who wanted the items. Therefore, with effect from 1st January, late payment fees will apply from 7 days after the auction, an additional 3% or minimum €10 + vat. Most of our customers are great, and we really appreciate your business!

We will continue to ask people to make appointments to enter items in the auction, due to the amount of demand we have been facing over the last couple of years, it’s the only way we can manage the space in our saleroom and Lot numbers in the auction. We want to give every seller the best service and display & promote their items to our mutual success.

Wherever possible, we encourage sellers to email us some photos of the items they wish to enter, so we can help you quicker and better.
